Product-neutral specifications for monitors

After a comprehensive overhaul, this is the new guideline for the product-neutral tendering of monitors. The guide presents the state of the art for essential technical features of monitors that should be considered in public tenders. It is the result of a working group led by the Procurement Office of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media e.V. (Bitkom). The aim of the document is to provide reliable and understandable assistance to contracting authorities in the federal, state, local and other public sector bodies in order to ensure that their tenders for the procurement of monitors are neutral in terms of product i.e. without the use of protected brand names and without naming a specific manufacturer.

This guide applies only to screens that are operated on workstation computers. Other new technologies (such as touch technology) are not considered. Also, the guide is limited to standard monitors for office applications; special applications such as CAD and DTP are not considered.
