Vendor-Neutral Performance Description of Desktop PCs

This guide was created as a result of a working group led by the Purchasing Authority of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Bundesverband Informationstechnik, Telekommunikation und neue Medien e. V. (Federal Association of Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media – Bitkom).

The aim of this document is to give public authorities a reliable and intelligible tool for the wording in official tenders for the procurement of information and communications technologies in a non-proprietary manner. It should be possible to formulate current technical requirements of the products to be procured without having to use specific product names, brand names or manufacturers. This initiates non-discriminatory competition between providers which maintains the short-term and long-term efficiency of tenders and ensures their technical quality.

This guide covers desktop PCs or desktop workstation PCs in various performance classes.
